Concertus sign-up to SportsAid Suffolk, as nine more young sportsmen and women receive support

Concertus, an award-winning design and property consultancy based in Ipswich, has become the latest business to sign-up to support aspiring sportsmen and women from Suffolk by becoming a sponsor of the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club.

The news was announced at a special presentation event at Portman Road where 9 young sportsmen and women from Suffolk were presented with grants from SportsAid, the national charity for sports people.

The Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club was set up in January 2015 to raise money to enable SportsAid to support more talented up and coming sportsmen and women from Suffolk. The charity works with the governing bodies of 75 sporting disciplines, to ensure the right athletes get financial support and recognition at the right time.

Concertus joins six businesses from the Ipswich area who are sponsors of the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club – Pound Gates Insurance Brokers, Ensors Chartered Accountants, Handelsbanken, Ellisons Solicitors, StrategiQ and Picasso HR.

Andrew Rowe, Managing Director of Concertus, said “We are delighted to join some great local companies in sponsoring the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club. It’s a real privilege to be able to support the talented young sportsmen and women from Suffolk that SportsAid helps. Like us, they aspire to be the best that they can be.” The latest young sportsmen and women to receive funding from SportsAid Suffolk are:

Lily May Humphreys, who is ranked number 1 in Europe at under 14 level, said “I’d like to thank SportsAid for their amazing support. It really does mean a lot to know that an organisation like SportsAid has recognised my talent. It spurs me on to continue to work hard and strive to achieve at the very top level.”

Since SportsAid Suffolk was established in 2007 it has raised and distributed £175,000 to support sportsmen and women from the county. The Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club is critical to the charity’s fundraising efforts.

The next Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club event takes place on Friday 22nd September when Olympic skeleton Gold medalist Amy Williams MBE, will be guest of honour. Details are available at www.ipswichsportinglunchclub.co.uk.
