Nov 15, 2022 1 min read

On Friday 4 November, over 100 guests attended the latest South Bucks fundraiser at the infamous Dorney Lake.

The sun shone on Megan Longman who had previously received her SportsAid Award allowing her to travel to Canada to compete for the Great Britain Softball U16 girls’ team. A Beaconsfield High student, Megan plays softball at Farnham Park (the national centre).

Megan was congratulated on her sporting achievements by special guest Professor Greg Whyte OBE also known as Super-Greg. Greg is a two-time Olympian in Modern Pentathlon and a Sports Scientist. He also won European bronze and World Championship silver medals.

Greg gave a phenomenal speech as he shared his story from humble beginnings in Luton, to getting an OBE for his services to charity. Greg has raised over £45 million for charities (including Comic Relief) by supporting many celebrities in their endurance challenges as well as taking part in his own. Clearly, “nothing is impossible” and this has been his mantra throughout.

Mark Ormerod, chair of SportsAid Eastern welcomed everyone to the lunch, thanking long-term sponsors CloudMoves; B P Collins; Nunn Hayward; Jansons Property; Beaufort Financial; Quantuma and LEAP.
