Celebrating 25 Years of Sporting Impact in Milton Keynes

Jul 31, 2025 3 min read

This month’s Milton Keynes Sporting Lunch wasn’t just another date in the calendar – it was a powerful reminder of what happens when sport, business and community come together to back the next generation of champions.

It was also a moment to honour the past, celebrate the present and look boldly to the future.

25 Years of Legacy: Roger Fennemore’s Vision

This year marks 25 years since Roger Fennemore founded SportsAid Eastern Milton Keynes – and what a legacy it is.

Roger’s passion for sport, dedication to young athletes, and unwavering belief in the power of local support have been the driving force behind SportsAid’s incredible work across the region. Thanks to his vision, thousands of young sports stars have received vital backing at the very start of their journey – long before the medals and media attention.

Roger, thank you. Your impact has been game-changing.

Spotlight on Talent: Anish Nair

This event’s featured beneficiary was Anish Nair, a rising badminton star from Milton Keynes. Anish is already gaining national recognition for his talent, commitment, and discipline – and it’s clear his journey is only just beginning.

He was awarded for his outstanding achievements by the Mayor of Milton Keynes James Lancaster, in a moment that captured the heart of why SportsAid exists – to champion young athletes and fuel their potential.

Inspiration from the Top: Charlotte Evans MBE

Our guest speaker was none other than Charlotte Evans MBE, Sochi 2014 gold medallist and Paralympic skiing guide.

Charlotte delivered a powerful talk on resilience, mindset, and the strength that comes from facing setbacks head-on. Her journey – from local beginnings to the world stage – struck a chord with every guest in the room and served as a reminder of what can happen when talent meets tenacity and the right support.

A Huge Thank You

This incredible event wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing generosity of our sponsors, guests, VIPs and supporters. Every donation, every ticket, every show of support makes a difference – not just to the athletes we back today, but to the future of British sport.

Special thanks to our Chair Melanie J Beck MBE DL and Nicholas Mann from Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership for hosting such a brilliant afternoon and continuing to back our mission.

Here’s to the next 25 years of empowering future champions = and celebrating the people who make it possible.
