Honouring the Legacy of Roger Fennemore

Nov 27, 2025 2 min read

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Roger Fennemore, the founder of SportsAid Eastern Milton Keynes and a man whose vision shaped our region’s support for young athletes for more than 25 years.

Roger’s passion for sport, his belief in opportunity and his extraordinary commitment to volunteering transformed the lives of thousands of young athletes across the East of England.

In 2001, alongside his wife Sally, Roger founded the Milton Keynes Sporting Lunch Club, choosing SportsAid as its charity. What began as a single lunch quickly grew under Roger’s leadership into a network of Sporting Lunch Clubs across the region, raising more than £2.5 million to support talented young athletes at the very start of their journey.

Roger understood the importance of backing athletes long before the headlines, podiums or sponsorship. He believed that early support has the power to change a young person’s path and he dedicated his time, energy and expertise to making that support available.

His leadership, integrity and determination helped build the foundations of SportsAid Eastern as we know it today. The events he established continue to thrive, the partnerships he built continue to grow and the young people he championed continue to benefit from the opportunities his work created.

Roger’s contribution extended far beyond fundraising. He created community, connection and belief. He inspired others to step forward and play their part. He shaped a legacy that will be felt across our region for generations.

On behalf of everyone at SportsAid Eastern, we send our heartfelt condolences to Roger’s wife Sally, his family, friends and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Thank you, Roger, for your vision, your dedication and the enduring impact you leave behind.

Melanie J Beck MBE DL – Chair, SportsAid Eastern
